Gabrielle Union has recently revealed that she started producing her own films because she is sick and tired of getting black slaves scripts.Union says that she is certain that young moviegoers are no longer interested in lesson about the ills of slavery and added:
“There was this script that came and it was yet another slavery story told from the perspective of the disgruntled Southerner, and I’m reading this script and thinking, ‘At what point did somebody think I would want to comb the Missus’ hair.’ “I don’t want to do this. It’s about being pro-active. I’m optioning a script (actress) Regina Hall wrote and I’ve optioned a book called The Vow. “This is our hope for our future as people of colour in this industry – we are trying to get our own funding together. The 18 to 34-year-olds don’t care about race.”
