A pair of Minion-inspired shoes sported by Sandra Bullock have gone viral. On Saturday, the stars, well, the voices of the new hit animated movie, Minions, walked the yellow carpet of the premiere in Los Angeles, California.

Minions is a spin-off of the hilarious comedies – Despicable Me (2010) and Despicable Me 2 (2013). The Despicable franchise follows:

Gru, a supervillain who adopts three girls from an orphanage; and the voice of Jason Segel as Vector, a rival of Gru who steals the Great Pyramid of Giza. When Gru learns of Vector’s heist, he plans an even greater heist: to shrink and steal the Earth’s moon.

Jon Hamm, who voiced Herb Overkill, wore a yellowish beige suit that would have been perfect for Mad Men. As for Allison Janney, who does Madge Nelson, she looked great in a bright yellow mini dress.

However, all eyes were on Sandra Bullock, who opted for the perfect look that fit her supervillain role, Scarlett Overkill, a character, who tries to steal the British crown from Queen Elizabeth II.

Bullock opted for a black Roksanda dress with a unique yellow stripe and a beautiful pair of shoes designed by Rupert Sanderson.

Talking to BBC, Sandra Bullock said that she did the movie for her son, Louis, who is five. The Oscar winner explained:

“My son. I wanted to do something that he could see, that I was in.I’ve started telling him that I go and make stories, but he doesn’t quite care what that’s about – nor do I want him to.”

She said that she was thrilled to play a villain:

“As an actor, being a villain is a great thing. Everyone wants to be able to do that. And we’re human beings – we’re crabby – so to be able to be mean the entire time you’re working? It’s a great release. It was one of the harder things I’ve done. Every day was different and every day was a struggle.”

While she loved the role, it was hard to be Overkill because she had to imagine everything since there were no props. She added:

“It was one of the harder things I’ve done. Every day was different and every day was a struggle. I’m so used to using a prop or a person or my body to sell something and I couldn’t sell the character that way. I had to only use my voice, which was tricky. Just when I thought I did something well, I would hear, ‘we need you to do it again, we didn’t get it’ – and I’m like, ‘how could you not have gotten it?!’ Then I realised, they’re in the other room with their heads hanging low, not even looking at my body – they are just listening. Listening for the sound. It was not an easy road to get there, but I’m so glad I did it.”

Minions hits theaters on Friday, July 10. Are you going to see it?
