Rihanna was pictured at Jean-Paul Gaultier’s Store in Paris, France few days ago.Many Barbadian journalists and residents of Barbados are asking themselves if the Barbados Prime Minister David Thompson made the right decision in appointing Rihanna to the position of Cultural Ambassador to Barbados.Eric Lewis, who is a writer for the Barabados Advocate wrote an article questioning the firing of key cabinet officials to make room for Rihanna $6,000 a month salary. According to the article:

Recent photos of Rihanna lying between the legs of her BFF Chris Brown in a suggestive manner as he nuzzles her neck, are not the type of images Bajans want to see of their Cultural Ambassador.
It’s embarrassing enough that her supposed boyfriend is still allegedly carrying on an illicit affair with his older manager behind closed doors while he conveniently makes out with Rihanna in full view of the cameras.
Bajans are proud people who frown upon public displays of affection by anyone, much less an official who is being paid by taxpayer dollars.
I’m half Bajan myself and a bit embarrassed by all the hoopla around this material girl. Let me ask you this. How many ambassadors does our little island need anyway? Surely this pop “star” doesn’t need a salary from the people of Barbados. Here it is November 17th, 2010. Has anyone added up all the money she has spent on herself and her entourage? The other day in New York city she was outside her hotel with a group of children who were waiting with their parents to see her, apparently. According to a radio interview she explained that the necklace she was wearing which read “F*ck You” was an accident. I dare her to wear that when she visits Barbados! What kind of “role model” is that?
Interesting that women are complaining about abuse when they do not command respect in what they wear and how they behave. And if I sound like Mother Superior, so be it.
I’m waiting to see what Rihanna does with the land the Bajan government has given her. Seems to me it should be looking after the people who actually live there.
I, for one, definitely do not support her as any kind of “ambassador”. Too vulgar for words.
Who in their right mind would pick this sinful person as an ambassador? She has her own money! She is not an influence on anyone. Especially the fact that she wanted the restraining order removed from the guy who beat the pulp out of her?! Robyn does not have the right amount of sense to be over someone…
