Mo’Nique Talks Open Marriage With Barbara Walters: “My Husband Is Allowed To Cheat”

Mo’Nique Open Marriage Confession Barbara Walters Oscar Special:“My Husband Is Allowed To Cheat” – Mo’Nique sat down with Barbara Walters for the upcoming final episode of Barbara Walters Oscar Special, airing Sunday to talk about the mystery behind her hairy arms and legs and the fact that she has an open marriage with her husband Sidney Hicks. The Oscar-nominated actress/comedienne explained that her husband can have sex out of their marriage saying:

“Let me say this: I have not had sex outside my marriage with Sidney.Could Sid have sex outside of his marriage with me? Yes. That’s not a deal-breaker. That’s not something that would make us say, ‘Pack your things and let’s end the marriage. What if it’s 20 times? So what? We’ve been best friends for over 25 years, and we truly know who we are. Oftentimes, people get into marriages and they don’t know who they’re laying next to. I’m very comfortable and secure with my husband.”

The Precious star said about her unshaved legs:

“He loves the hairy legs, and if Sid likes the hairy legs, there you go.I tried shaving one time, and it was so uncomfortable and painful. I said never again would I do that to myself. I’m 42 and I’m very hairy.”

  2. i’m not married but aint no way in hell i would accept my man cheating on me.so r u going to accept any kids that come along with the cheating ? or even AIDS? i love Monique but i dont know what she going through in her life to even think this type of shit is ok.love god, love yourself and everthing else will come afer that.

  3. That’s rediculous to say but it is 2010. Too many diseases out there. That’s an excuse and a security psych trick on the mind cause if he cheated with a skinny bitche trust me it would be a problem. I guess she will tell her kids when they grow up and get into relationships that its okay if their man or husband cheats on them. Sounds utterly stupid but as I said its 2010.

  4. Poor thing! He gets all the poo-tang he wants, she just gets him. She really sounds like damaged goods – sounds like her own sexual abuse has caused her to have deep-rooted low self-esteem. Also, the obesity is probably related to the abuse and low self-esteem. She comes off like she’s strong and proud, but sounds like deep down inside she’s damaged. I feel sorry for her. He’s one lucky dog. He gets all the poo-tang he wants, AND gets all the money without doing any work (except working at getting all that poo-tang, of course).

  5. I think Mo’niQue is setting a very bad example of Marriage.I thought marriage was sacred but apparently it not very sacred for her. Vicky

  6. Apparently she still hasn’t got over her sexual abuse problen because she claims she has put it behind her, but every interview she talks about her sexual abuse all the time. I don’t think that I would like an open marriage that she got going on. She needs to go back in counseling .She is one wierd Black woman.Vicky

  7. To me it seems like she has alot if faith and trust in her man and marriage. If she feels like he knows how to conduct himself and all the stipulations that comes with it why not. A man is going to be a man no matter what, you say no to him and he will find somebody to say yes. Congrads Mo, keep the faith.

  8. I feel as though if people in relationships or married feel as though they want to have a open relationship then do what makes you and that person confortable, now personally I would not have a open relationship myself there is too many diseases out there and you cannot I repeat cannot trust people people who have open relationships better you than me and GOOD LUCK WITH THAT!!!

  10. Ladies, Pleez!
If your man isn’t cheating on you, it’s only because he hasn’t had the Opportunity. (not because you “don’t allow it.”)

    Wake up!

  11. SOOOO SAD—SHE IS DAMAGED. NO WOMAN IN HER right state of mental capacity WOULD ALLOW SUCH nonsense TO ENCOMPASS HER MARRIAGE–IF YOU ALLOW YOUR HUSBAND TO CHEAT–WHAT IS THE POINT OF MARRIAGE. I LIKE MONIQUE but IT IS OBVIOUS THAT HER SELF ESTEEM IS low AND SHE CLEARLY HAS SOME psychological ISSUES——WORD TO MONIQUE: GET A CLUE ON MARRIAGE, LEARN TO DIFFERENTIATE BETWEEN BOYFRIEND AND HUSBAND—YOU KNOW HOW YOUR HUSBAND IS WITH YOU BEHIND CLOSED DOORS—WHY IN THE HELL WOULD YOU WANT ANOTHER WOMAN TO SAMPLE OR HAVE YOUR GOODIES???? DOESNT MAKE SENSE………MY HEART GOES OUT TO HER!

  12. Ok, so why get married girl, really–do the Oprah and make sure he can’t get your ends! It’s all subjective really–the word cheating…in my eyes cheating automatically means lying–cuz if you let somebody know up front it’s not cheating. And cheating really isn’t about the sex so much as the LYING Mo–I guess she doesn’t mind having a LIAR in her bed? She is probably doing the same thing so hey–

  13. men cheat all the time event those with the best life, it been that way since time. some woman will prefer to no about it than other while some live in the clouds and when they find out they cant believe its going on. People wake up this is life so men cheat some don’t. Its up to you if you love your man & he loves you & you will work it out remember a man have the opportunity with you finding out they will its just sex.

  14. GAY! She is gay just like Will Smith and Jada and their open marriage. Wake up, people! GAY!

  15. I have been with my husband for twenty years. And at no point in tjis relationship has it ever been ok to cheat. Not as friends and certanly not as man and wife. If he did he would find his ass out of my house and my life forever. I take my vows seriously. We stood infront of God and spoke those words. And I’m just hood; we don’t even get down like that. Men are like flies at a picknick when you shoo one three more land on you. Wake up Monique!!!!

  16. Actually the comments made make me laugh. But to each his own and everyone needs to hold onto whatever “ideas” they have about what is or isn’t, can or can’t go on in their marriage. But by that same token, don’t go betting on what is or isn’t going on in someone else’s or whether or not they are in love. For me , sex is just that, sex, it doesn’t mean or guarantee anything else.
Maybe thats what Monique knows. She never stated she wasn’t free to have another sex partner if she chose. Just that she hasn’t . Likely because she hasn’t chose. My own wife is that way. She’s free to chose to should she like. (Actually I would get off on that but thats my thing I don’t badger her). We both are okay though with the fact that if I did have sex with someone else its no big. I guess because we both know that having the illusion of being able to control interest, friendship, partnership, and even love through sex is an illusion.

  17. No mo that’s not love I don’t care how much he say he love u love don’t hurt and any farm shape are color respect yo self love yo self I’m 26 and I had to do things the hard way. Kiki from north dallas

  18. I want a monogamous marriage just like most women, but the reality is that the majority of men cheat at some point no matter what they say.

The fact is, many men have already cheated on their wives, and most women are in denial about it.

Monique is probably realizing, why fight it?

Having said that, I believe that there are different types of men.

There are a few good men that will never cheat under any circumstance.

There are others that will not cheat as long as their wife is doing what she is supposed to do to take care of her marriage.

There is a third subset of men that will only cheat under extreme circumstances (i.e., he’s stationed overseas without her for a year, she’s ill /pregnant/ going through menopause and has withheld sex from him for a long period of time, etc.).

Finally, there is that last category of men that’s just dogs and would cheat no matter what because he’s sick in the head. I pray to God her husband does not fall into that last category.

  19. If sex were a means of exchange by which any man could call me common, it just wouldn’t happen. I was honest enough to ask for the truth, because I was pregnant, trying to protect the baby, and much before the pregnancy, I was made to constantly feel like who I was, was not sufficient. Therefore, if I’m only as acceptable to the extent that I can be molded, then the true me isn’t what you want… and if you want to be with someone else, be honest and fair, don’t waste m time and let me know. Those words were like a broken record, and when I did discover what was going on behind my back, (of course I had to do an FBI shakedown to get the truth) I was told, well you permitted me to do it! On top of being lied to, I was lied on, and my baby and I were lucky to come away with no diseases. If you’d lie about cheating, then you’d lie about using protection. Sex is not just sex. I’ve got a beautiful healthy daughter behind that traumatic event, and if you can’t love yourself enough Mo’ to be safe, then for all the gifts God has graced you with… Show the Creator that Love back by not being so wreckless with the greatest gift he gave you, You… You are the temple of God, and bought that temple with the blood of His Son…There is only one man worth being so liberal and unlimited with: The Mediator, Christ Jesus….He was God and He never entrusted himself to Men… by now, we all should know the reason why. I mean who just stands by and lets a serpent deceive their wife with evil? Who disobeyed God with full knowledge-to follow his woman? Where was the pack who hung close when the miracles were abundant, where were they while Jesus hung on the cross? His mother, Mary Magdalene, and some mournful widows were far closer (and awake!) during the Savior’s true dire need. That is our redemption, women: The only man (human) that reflects back to us the kind of ‘faithfulness’ coded in our DNA has been given to us from God the Father’s bosom. Mo’ every troubled, traumatized, promiscuous, violated, rejected woman that Jesus crossed paths with, walked away princesses finally betrothed to one who could handle the betrothal as it truly is meant to be. Read Ezekiel 16, and let The Lord in to cover you, and teach you what a real husband would never do to his wife: that is, to uncover her nakedness…. in laymen’s terms….”never leave her exposed or vulnerable, be that in as many multi-faceted ways you could imagine”… and more. God Bless
