Monica On Split From Rocko: Vibe Interview – R & B singer Monica spoke to VIBE about her recent public breakup with her longtime boyfriend and children’s father Rocko.
A few weeks ago MediaTakeOut.com posted an open letter from a female admitting to a sexual relationship with Rocko, while bragging about her taunting Monica with the graphic details in a harassing manner. Monica responded to the rumors, confirming she and her fiancé had separated, via Sandra Rose’s blog, who is a good friend of the family. The star then took to her Twitter page to explain the messy ordeal to her fans and followers, and thanked them for their support.
Here’s what Monica had to say in her candid interview with VIBE.
“I chose Twitter as a forum to say what I felt at that time because there was no other way for me to say it once,” Monica told VIBE. “Had I been on radio, had I been interviewed, it would’ve been over and over again. That was just a quick way to say, ‘I know what’s taking place on the Web sites. I want you to know that I’m okay.’ But it really is a private matter. You just lose the privacy once you become an artist. So I’m not upset about it in any way.”
It was a situation I didn’t ask to be in, so to speak. Once something is put up on a Web site and things about your personal life are spread all around, it’s unfortunate,” said Monica. “I don’t even know specifically who they spoke to, but I do know that I never felt so… I guess the word would be confused more than anything else. If you go to sleep and you wake up and you see something for the first time, it’s a little scary, you know. I’m too grown now to go investigating leads. The reality is that I have to play my position as their mom and do what it is that’s best for me.”
“When I met him, I was only 19 years old and the good definitely outweighed the bad over the years so we don’t have any hard feelings towards one another,” said Monica. “Anything that involves children is gonna be more emotional. I think that’s the area that makes it more difficult… My priority is to make sure that whatever is done is best for them. I’m secondary in the picture and so is their dad and we have a close bond for over a decade. So regardless of what takes place in the media, there’s still certain things that will happen amongst the four of us for the rest of our lives and that’s just never gonna change.”

I FEEL LIKE I CAN TELL U THAT BECAUSE I AM A CHRISTIAN WHICH MAKES US BRETHEREN IN CHRIST JESUS. I KNOW GOD HAS HIS HANDS ON U AND UR BOYS. THIS MEDIA STUFF IS JUS SATANS WAY OF TRYING 2 MAKE U THINK SOMETHING IS THERE THATS REALLY NOT. U KNOW IF WE RESIST HIM HE SHALL FLEE. JUS STAY PRAYED UP AND IM GONNA CONTINUE 2 PRAY FOR. AND REMEMBER GOD HAS THE MASTERPLAN!

I’m will like to tell you something Monica, i wasn’t there and i dont kow the situation! but u know as an artistist we have to keep our image looking good! but on the real if someone done u wrong! u needs to let there ass be on front street! everybody lives are different, but men are the same! I don’t care if you got money are not! thts yur children’s father! they promise like they’re goin to marry but deep inside! they are not! I like you alot baby girl! but ther realness of your relationship already had problms! but u did the right thing for kicking him to the curb! but dnt allow anybody to do yiou wrong, i feel thts wasn’t your soul mate! i remember when you were looking for somebody! take your time! Monica is a strong christian women. Rocko will NEVER find a women as strong as her. What Rocko failed to understand, not only did he fail Monica but his two sons. Now his two sons have to be raised in a separate house from there dad, which is not fair. They need there dad. But he was to selfish to think about how his decisions would effect Monica or his sons.
