Chris Brown Haiti Benefit Concert In Va. – Chris Brown is set to headline and host a Haiti benefit concert in his home state of Virginia next month to raise money for the earthquake-ravaged country.
“Virginia Stand Up! A Call to Action” will be held May 15 at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond. All-star performers will include Trey Songz, Keri Hilson, T-Pain, Mario and Ryan Leslie. More artists are expected to be added to the bill in the coming days.
The 20-year-old R&B singer said in a statement Monday he wanted to personally contribute to the Haitian relief effort and support an organization that helps people in his home state.
“I wanted to find a way to contribute personally to the ongoing Haitian relief effort and also support an organization that helps people in need in my home state,” said Brown. “Everyone has to do their part.”
Proceeds will benefit the American Red Cross’ Haiti relief effort to help survivors of the quake and the Central Virginia Foodbank, which helps residents in Virginia, reports Yahoo News.
The disgraced star has been working to rebuild his image ever since his infamous fight with ex-girlfriend Rihanna last year. Part of his remodeling phase includes a photo shoot for the newest issue of Flaunt Magazine, depicting the singer as a distressed young man worn over by the media’s constant criticism. In one image, Brown appears with a spiral notepad which read the words “SHUT UP!!” covering his mouth, and another shows the star sitting in an awkward slouch looking dismally into the camera. A sulking, fed up and reformed Brown best describes the emotions conveyed in the editorial spread.

I don’t care what anyone said, I think Chis made a big mistake with his Rhiana scandal and we Know that, but no one is perfect. He has grown and matured and is now a better man for it . And the things like this for Haiti and other positive things he’s done and is continuing to do gives me a lot of respect for him. Big ups Chris. Stay positive and may your life continue to flourish.
