Spencer LeGrande New Accuser In Bishop Eddie Long SCANDAL – Atlanta-area pastor Eddie Long seems to be in more trouble, as fresh allegations involving himself and a youth has been released, taking the number of people making allegations against him to four. This time, it involves a 17 year old Long asked to go to Kenya with him in 2005.
During one of the trips, Spencer LeGrande, now 22, told the pastor he was having trouble sleeping. Long then gave the LeGrande Ambien, a sleeping pill. LeGrande became docile, and while sharing a bed with Long, the Pastor started to hug LeGrande, kissing and licking his lips while holding and rubbing his chest against LeGrande’s.
Long denies this situation in a statement released by a spokesperson on his behalf.
“Our position about the lawsuits has not changed. Bishop Long categorically denies the charges,” said spokesman Art Franklin. “We believe that it is unfortunate the young men have chosen to take this course of action. The defence team will review the complaints and respond accordingly at the appropriate time and in the appropriate forum.”
Long is currently facing allegations from four different people who claim to have been sexually assaulted by the Pastor. His situation looks rather bleak, as his reputation is in tatters.
What we as christians need to do is shut our mouths and begin to pray. We must let God handle this situation. My father always said that a lie will take wings but the truth will stand; therefore, if these allegations are truth they will stand. People of God PRAY, PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am old and I know how Satan can attack a person. Dont ever say what you want do in the flesh. I think we have already figured out that young adults commit sexual acts in their teenage years. Usually in their teens they can tell what normal sexual behavior and what not normal in making them feel attractive or getting them what they want. Why weren’t they unsupervised by other members on these trips or someone up on their guards with Bishop Long.? The young man states that he gave him a sleeping pill. If it was some from the streets or another peers looking to use the date rape drug. Would he have taken it if they weren’t looking to score or have a notch under their belt? I’m not taking up for anyone but this is 2010 and teens are not ignorant to the fact about anything. Now for Bishop Long there’s no excuse for his action being in the public eye. If this is your life style that needs to be kept quite between adults that have something to loose. Not to air your dirty laundry. My prayer are with both families and may God see them through this mess.
This doesn’t have anything to do with religion, except that we have a person in a position of authority (in this case, in a church) allegedly abusing his power. It looks bad for Long. Barring a rather unusual frame job that’s a bit hard to fathom, it seems unlikely all these people would decide to turn on an otherwise good person.
Prayer won’t help. When is the last time you knew with certainty that it did? Never has, never will. So what will help? Prosecution will help. Real action in the real world to bring the truth to light.

Four people (and counting) are not likely to tell the same lie on the same person. The pictures are telling too. Why is a grown man, even minus the fact the he is a mega money preacher, interacting with teens on that level? I am a Christian as well and I refuse to turn away from the fact that indeed these kids could have been touched and treated improperly. We keep saying pray for Eddie Long but is there anyone holding a rally to pray for these boys? Let’s not judge; but at the same time let’s not be brain washed on what truly happens in society.
Most people will never understand until they have a child that’s being raped by a grown man, or woman. Why would these boys come out now? For me it’s simple; most children are scared and these things normally don’t surface until an adult. I was touched as a child improperly, my family is C.O.G.I.C. I had the greatest parents in the world and I still could not bring myself to tell anyone. Now that I am an adult (35) I just shared a few years ago with friend what happened to me as a child, very emotional.
I hope this is not true but I also know millionaires are very powerful people. When we look at one that has the black American Christian community on their side and had done so much good; we are programmed to not imagine them doing wrong. Let us not turn our head from the possibility that this could have indeed happen to these boys. If there are any kids reading this please talk to someone, if you cannot go to your parents please find a counselor at school, the principal, or tell a friend of yours that you can talk to for help. These rumors about Eddie Long have been swirling around for years. Yes he would risk his job because after all he was buying these men or so he thought. His wife knew, other people in the ministry knew. Didn’t anyone see his wearing all those hot, sweaty muscle shirts was a cry for help? We are not supposed to be looking at his body. We come to church to hear the word. Shows he was operating in the flesh. As Christians, we need to wake up. These guys and their wives are in it for the money. Not even sure where to begin with this one. Except to say that if this man/Bishop did do what these young men alleges he did….it won’t surprise me at all! As a former Pastor/Christian (and now an agnostic) I know from my own personal experience how we as human beings have to struggle with our own temptations and vices in life! Yes, every human being on this planet has done something morally wrong either in thought or action!! There is not one person who breathes who is immune to the realities of life! And though I was sincere in what I preached and believed about homosexuality I know now that I was wrong! I for one will not sit or stand in judgement because I’ve come to the conclusion that men and women who are same gender loving people are born with that proclivity and orientation! If society as a whole would come to grips with that truth then maybe our discussion about this problem would be different. If Bishop Long and others who seemingly struggle with homosexual tendencies would just be honest with themselves and society as a whole would be more tolerant and understanding about their struggles then maybe, just maybe he would not be going through this. Though I don’t know the bishop personally I can only imagine the pain/embarassment/mental anguish and emotional trauma he, his wife/children and his congregation are going through. This whole situation is a test, not just for Bishop Long, but for all humankind! And especially the church.
The church as a whole needs to practice what it preaches, especially when it comes to the Love of God! That is if God really does exist!
Truly if there is no legitimate creedance to the allegations, then why is Bishop Long remaining silent? Such horrific allegations command immediate attention if in fact according to Long himself , they are definitely False. Sadly, we must be mindful of placing too much faith in man. Tragically we continue to witness examples of alleged Men of God failing to exemplify that which they preach! And yes while we have all sinned, Bishop’s behavior if indeed true has caused a negative influence not only on the church but for all Christians. Yes we need to pray for both parties but we don’t need to shut up about it. This thing is bigger than we could ever imagine. By those boys stepping forward, it will encourage others who may be in the same situation with other people they once looked up to, to step forward and realize what is right and what is wrong. While we can’t say one sin is indeed larger than the other, we can say that some sins are just not acceptable when it comes to the Christ-like ways we are to encounter as children of God. This one man’s sin, will cause others to sin and turn away from God. So if you would like to classify his sin being the same as any of the average person’s sin, then so be it, but my sin as an average person won’t have nearly as much influence, heartache, pain, confusion, and so much more negative affect as the allegations of Bishop Eddie Long. As for the young girl Krystal who stated she doesn’t believe it, honey you have yet to live your life to know or understand how the real-world is. Stand by your bishop, but don’t be naive while doing so. Far too many details in this case. Again, think about if this was your son, brother, cousin, or best friend. These boys deserve fairness in all of this. What about how their parents feel? Now, we as parents won’t ever trust our children in the care of the church. This new allegation is a telling sign, something is going on here. All these young men cant just be complaining that the bishop is wrong for no reason, just because he is Eddie Long, does not mean that he doesnt have any homo sexual tendencies. I dont condone the gay lifestyle, however I am not going to condemn them while I am having sex at the same time. Eddie Long needs to make up his mind and decide whether he is gay or straight. I have known about Bishop Long for years and I believe him to be a man of God. I am currently reading his book “It’s your time” in which he talks about his views on same sex marriages and other things the world wants to believe in. I am prayerful for this great man of God and I know that God will bring him through. The secular world needs to be careful as to how they treat the men and women of God. When the children were teasing the Prophet in the Bible a she bear came out of the woods and tore them to pieces. Beware of how you treat the men and women of God! The world is in chaos and Jesus will be coming back soon. We need to hear the men and women of God and change our wicked ways. Satan is trying to distract us from our work through these diversions. I am a christian, and I was accused and lies spread about me for more than 20 years in the state that I live in, it devastated me, even to this day people lie about me, I know the truth and God know I am not guilty, in my case it was mistaken identity and jealousy, even though the accusation against me is not true it hurts so bad, because there are people who love to hear garbage about someone else. I pray that the Lord will bring to light quickly and suddenly the truth to surface immediately and silence all the accusers and shame the enemy. The devil is LIAR. Sometime, people believe a lie about a person just because everyone is saying so, that does not mean anything. The majority, in most cases are always wrong and the minority has a little more discernment and revelation. What if Pastor Long have a true heart to help the homosexual. Sometimes, you have to go the low places to help people because some people can’t get to where the help is. How would you feel if most people were voicing their negative opinions and accusation, you would say, they dont know me, they dont know me. You have to ask God to help you and release you from this lie and to vindicate you and bring the truth to light. Let me start by saying, usually allegations of any form or fashion from a group of people are normally true. What we fail to realize is that you need not to find a relationship in religion, but in God. Living in the spirit of the Lord is not who you follow or where you go to church, but living out righteous decisions (LORD). If you claim to be one of God’s men and trying to help the community, then butt buddies should never come up against you. Besides, God made Adam and Eve, not Eddie and Steve.
First of all if you don’t believe prayer works — keep living and surely you will have an opportunity to try prayer for yourself or someone you love. No we shouldn’t keep quiet and no matter how long it took for the young men to voice their issues; it is a blessing, because the parents of other young members of Longfellows as well as other mentoring sources may take a more indept look at the actions of the individuals who are mentoring their children. I don’t have the answers; however, I know that in all we do — we should do it for God’s Glory and in this case we should pray for all involved and then put it on the shoulders of the Father one who can handle all things. No time for bashing — it helps no one.
I was about to say, what a way to end 2010 when it dawned on me that God is just getting started. Our eyes are about to OPEN to many more houses of sand…many placed value on because they were built with millions of dollars. The Sheriff, politicians and celebrities….seems like this church was made up of everything (the world idolizes.) Whew! God is up to something good and it is marvelous in my eyesight.
Krystal there is a lot that you dont understand about life and this is a blessing and honestly I don’t think you should be on this post responding to this topic because it is this type of power and control that a man or woman of power can have over innocent or undeveloped minded people. The problem I have is that pastors, bishops, and priests have been getting away with seducing and taking advantage of people who are vulnerable for centuries and the church has covered them up for just as long. Why isn’t that these men or women are not held to the same standards that anyone else who is employed. These pastors are essentially paid very well to live by a certain standard. I don’t want to hear anymore crap about they are human. NO if you are a pastor, bishop, priests, apostle you have just step into an office that implies that you should be EXTRAORDINARY that means endowed with power or the anointing to live above mediocrity or the typical human frailties. However, we have a bunch of people with gifts who do not want to be accountable to anyone but hold everyone else accountable while they preach mercy to justify or alleviate any condemnation of their erotic struggles. The fact is that the majorities of these leaders are not properly licensed to be offering therapeutic counseling to anyone and are not properly trained to effectively handle the transference and countertransference that is inevitable when sharing intimate details with someone you develop trust with. The national government needs to mandate that these leaders are not allowed to practice unorthodox counseling or therapy unless they have attended an accredited educational college of therapy or counseling practices and has gone through the necessary procedures to earn their license. Heck, they are not going to allow some novice to speak to the parishioners if they are not properly license and ordained by an accredited theological seminary. Everyone has gifts but just because you are a leader in the church does not grant you the gift of handling people most intimate; details. However, in regards to these specific allegations against Eddie Long, I feel that having worked in this field for many years these young men are losing a lot more than they are supposing to be gaining financially, therefore I think they are well aware of that they are not benefiting in the long run I think this is a cry from their deepest pain of betrayal and confusion that they have regarding their own sexuality since they have been victimized spiritually and mentally in their teens. Do not forget people these are very young men. I have just observed a lot of incidents in which pastors have used their position and gift of influence to take advantage of vulnerable women, children and men. And we must stop using scriptures to cover up what is really criminal activity or child abuse concerning this case regardless of the state laws. Furthermore, I feel that until church leaders are held by the same standards as the President or political leader then they are going to continue in their folly of sexual and mental abuse, money laundering and escapism. Most of these people if you really think about it are either born with the tendencies of narcissi or they develop it after gaining some many people who worship them, they tend to take on a position of a god. They allow and promote idolatrous worship by receiving elaborate gifts and favors. They pressure people into to making major personal sacrifices of their time and money with no regard. They use scare and guilt tactics when a person cannot adhere to their figment of what is righteousness while they continue to live a double life of perversion of money, sex and power. So people of God, let’s stop ignoring the possibilities and look at the facts. I don’t think Mrs. Bernstein would have taken this case if the evidence was not insurmountable, she is considered an expert with these cases and when you become an expert at identifying evidence your gut tells you that there is something right or wrong. Besides she confessed that before these allegations she has had the utmost respect for Eddie Long and was devasted that she would have to be the lawyer chosen to expose the truth? Honestly, the questions has been asked so is Eddie Long gay, my comment would be NO he is an OPPORTUNIST which is exactly the trait of a NARCISSIST they don’t authentically regard other people feelings and any claim or acts of kindness towards others is primarily to give them more power and control as some type of martyr or savior (to bring more attention to themselves as great) Narcissist people will deny allegations until they have been caught red handed because they are so far removed from the feelings of others instead they get a sensation when they conquer their prey. It is the ultimate sensation for them to get people to trust them and them they seduce their minds and then they reject them. Mission accomplished. They are sick and full of evil, but on the other hand you have to pray for them because their impulses gone unchecked or unnoticed usually becomes serial because they have conquered so many they need more and more prey to get the sick rush. Until eventually their behavior becomes SERIAL.
So having said that I pray that this is not true especially because of the lifelong damage that it would cause to these young men, the shame, the emasculation of their manhood, the loss of a relationship and a church family they valued. The questions about how did they allow this to happen to themselves the question about why did God allow it to happen to them Ladies and Gentlemen think about it, these young men have already lost a lot so let’s not ignore their cry for help and support and to bring justice to the name of the Lord and of course to them.
The reality is something obviously happened in his dealings with them that were not supposed to happen and if he had been properly trained in counseling, therapy, and mentoring these accusations would not have occurred. Think about all the millions of teachers, school counselors that are helping teenagers every day, what are the chances that we will be accused. Quite frankly, the chances are great if we lack integrity, are mentally ill and most importantly not properly trained, Because many people who come to church are mentally ill or a weak, thus they are seeking guidance, thus we have to be well equipped to delicately handle their situations or else many of them will begin to become enamored and fascinated with us. However the well trained professional see this vulnerability as an opportunity to help the person get a breakthrough in their dilemma, but an untrained person or a perpetrator will see it as an opportunity to satisfy their needs. In other words Eddie Long was not wise in his dealing with these young men because I feel that anytime there is a conflict or a misunderstanding in a relationship in any dialogical or physical interaction both parties must take responsibility for the misunderstanding or misread intentions. However, in this case I feel that if these allegations are true Eddie Long is fully responsible because they were teenagers when they alleged the grooming into this covenant began and also because he is in very powerful position of authority that demands respect and submission. And if anybody has ever heard Eddie Long’s monologues and delivery he can be very charismatic, dramatic and mesmerizing when he is preaching, and teaching.
SO LET’S PRAY THAT THE TRUTH BE REVEALED SO THAT THE CHURCH AND THIS COUNTRY CAN HEAL
These young men who have now come forward have the same problem as a certain 13 year old who posted on this page – worthless parents. Stop posting your full name, age and affiliations on a public page! If these parents paid more attention to what their kids were doing and who their children were spending time with, there would be no question relative to who gave your minor child prescription drugs or what adult was spending a night in the same bed. The young men were facing an extreme power differential and while they may have been old enough to make the decesion to willingly participate, they still lacked the maturity to understand what the future consequences of their and Longs actions. When 4 men come out against some on in such a public manner, while there may not have any legal significance against Long, he should be deemed a predator. God will forgive him, as I’m sure his church will, but he must sit down from his leadership position and seek profesional help.

It really concerns me that this man of God doesn’t appear to be relying on God to resolves these issues. I would think that a true Christian would be at least concerned about these young men even if they were not telling the truth. To lean toward a carnal battle with lawyers and stones doesn’t speak too well for this man of cloth. The Bible has some specific guidelines about what to do when we are taken by a fault. if we are guilty we should humble ourselves. If we are not guilty we should humble ourselves. . We all need to be covered in the blood of Jesus Christ,___ the innocent as well as the perpetrators.
