Later, authorities determined that Eyo died in a house in Garland, a suburb of Dallas, and his body was dumped near the lake.

The weapon has not been found.

Top $ defense attornies are paid handsomly to devote lots of time to their clients’ cases.
Often, they have the skill and savvy to poke holes in the prosecutions’ case. They’ve been known to badger the DA’s star”:witnesses into losing credibility in the eyes of the jury and judge (Hence, creating “reasonable doubt”).
In addition, the “hot shot” lawyers are established and are usually well liked and respected by the court judges. They may even be golfing buddies or belong to the same country club (Political “in roads”)
Unfortunately, those without “deep pockets” have nothing of the kind. They’re assigned a public defender, appointed by the courts. Many public defenders are either interns or fresh out of law school, with little experience and usually no “political in roads.” Granted, many of them, are capable, caring and competent, but they almost always have HUGE caseloads. This places severe limitations on the amount of time they have to dedicate to any one case. Hence, they’re over worked and under-paid.
