Ann Pettway Arrested In Carlina White Kidnapping

A woman named Ann Pettway who turned herself in for the ’87 kidnapping of a baby who later at 23 years old discovered the real truth about herself and found her own parents has been arrested on a series of charges.

Pettway was actually on probation in North Carolina and turned herself in after a warrant for her arrest was issued.

The kidnap victim Nejdra Nance whose real name is Carlina White realized for many years that Pettway might not be her real mother and then did her own detective work using the website of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children to solve the 23 year mystery.

Miss White who is now a mother herself was barely 19 days old when she kidnapped after her parents took her to Harlem Hospital after falling ill with a high fever.

Authorities in New York are wondering if the federal authorities should take over the case because the statute of limitations has run out there and federal statutes don’t run out regarding cases like this.

In the meantime, White has been reunited with her real parents Joy White and Carl Tyson and the story has now taken a turn in another positive direction with the apprehension of Pettway.
