Jennifer Hudson Weight Loss On Oprah

Academy Award winning actress and “American Idol” alumni Jennifer Hudson appeared on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” Thursday where talked about deeply personal topics like her significant weight loss and a 2008 murder that claimed her mother, brother and nephew.

Hudson claims her success – she blurted out “I’ve lost 80 pounds! I’m sorry, I had to do it” – has been all mental.

“I’ve cooked all my meals at home. When I work out I do what I like to do. I don’t believe in over doing myself,” she told Oprah’s audience. “It’s all about self motivation because at the end of the day you can have all the money and all the personal trainers in the world, but if you don’t have that mindset it’s not possible. You have to do it for yourself.”

Hudson’s Weight Watchers coach, Liz, said people shouldn’t obsess over pounds. “Who cares about the number?,” she said in declining to say how much Hudson weighs.

After Hudson’s excited revelation, Oprah and her audience gave the singer/actress a standing ovation.

Hudson, who is now a size 6, admitted though that she is still adjusting to her new fit self.

“I’ll go to the store and pick up the extra larges or the bigger sizes, or I’ll pick up a medium, and they’re like ‘That’s too big.’ And I’m like ‘for who?,’” Hudson said. “My mind still hasn’t caught up yet.”

The Oprah appearance was also an opportunity for Hudson to premiere her new single “Where You At” that is off her new album “I Remember Me” that goes on sale March 22.
