Tyra Banks Supports Black Actresses In Hollywood

Tyra Banks

Tyra Banks recently did an interview with Essence where the TV mogul revealed that she is upset about the way Hollywood treats black actresses like Gabrielle Union and Sanaa Lathan.Banks has decided to do something about it and added:

Believe it or not,” she says with a laugh, “I was just on Essence.com.” Tyra was looking for more information on December’s cover subjects, actresses Nia Long, Gabrielle Union and Sanaa Lathan, because, she says, she’s concerned that the women are receiving unfair treatment in Hollywood. “Sanaa, Nia and Gabrielle are strong, powerful women and they are all very successful in our industry,” Tyra says. “So it really upset me to read about how the money they make doesn’t match up.” In fact, after reading that article, she phoned her mother at 5:30 in the morning and announced, “Ma, I have a new calling.”

  1. Tyra i am a up and coming writer and director with two promising films that has leads for a asian black martial artist and a black female serial killer. When I go on imdb I am disgusted, there is little to almost no black female actresses on the site. I really hope you are going to make my life easier when it is time for me to cast a beautiful black women for my lead roles.
    P.S.
All my films will have action and suspence for those actresses willing to take on the next step and become a action star like the boys yet still be sexy…

keep up the good work – love you with janet that was so funny

  2. I hope Tyra can actually do something about the disgusting mentality of Hollywood studios. Like Eva Mendes is too dark to play opposite a White man in Hollywood Blockbuster but she’s the perfect shade to be the love interest of Denzel or Will. Which Snubbs the Black woman. Rene Zellweger (spellcheck), Eva mendes, Lora Linney, and many other A-list non-black actresses have expressed their disgust for hollywood’s interest. But nothing changes….sigh
