Al Sharpton Michael Jackson Speech – Rev. Al Sharpton gave a speech at the Michael Jackson public memorial service held at Staples Center on Tuesday (July 7) in Los Angeles where he said:
“It was Michael Jackson that brought blacks and whites and Asians and Latinos together. It was Michael Jackson that made us sing ‘we are the world,’ to feed the hungry long before Live Aid.”
“It was that comfort level that kids from Japan and Ghana and France and Iowa and Pennsylvania got comfortable enough with each other so later it wasn’t strange to us to watch Oprah on television,”

I wish Al Sharpton was familiar with Wikipedia, because from his computer he could have looked up the facts on Live-Aid. It was an off-shoot from “Band Aid” which brought many artists together to raise money for Africa. “Do they know its Christmas” was the song. It was the inspiration for “We are the World” which followed the year after.

Michael looks like an angel in that all white suit on the previous page of this blog. I cry about him every day — it’s getting obsessive and i know i have to quit it! As for Rev. Sharpton — he has often stated that he speaks extemporaneously and does not write down anything–this could be good…this could not be so good…In any event I am sure he did not intend to slight ‘Band Aid’ — no more than the media did not intentionally decide NOT to report that Michael Jackson has given more money out of his pocket to charity than any other musician/recording artist/entertainer EVER–including Groups. To get in the Guiness Book of World Records for giving most charitable gifts (monetary) is no small feat. Upward somewhere in the VERY NICE neighborhood of $3-350 MILLION USA DOLLARS! –and did not want it to be known…now THAT is true giving…not for notoriety, or attaboy’s but from the pure heart that was only Michael Jacksons! Don’t mess with him!
AMEN Reddtop! This is so true. And he suffered from lupus and vitilago, both debilitating autoimmune diseases that sometimes crippled him with pain. That is why he started wearing that glove, that is why he wore wigs — he had alapecia as a result of the autoimmune diseases. He had to wear the surgical masks, and long sleeves in summer and have an umbrella because he could not let the sun get to him. The diseases he suffered from result in hardening of the arteries. People have called him strange, weird, freak, etc., and all he was doing was trying to compensate for his illnesses and the paparazzi wanted to make him look like a mental case. We better stop judging books by their covers!

Wow……I can not believe such negative interpretation of reality. A great man once said “it is funny how far we have come BUT yet, how far we got to go”. Al Sharpton is not a racist. He is nothing but a messenger. He is a man (And please noted what I had just said “A MAN”: not a BLACK MAN) who lived through the hard times of our nation “Segregation”. He is also man who experience sitting at the back of a bus allowing another man “EQUAL” to take the front seats (must I go on). I do not believe in politics nor can I dictate a textbook that I have not opened. I believed in seeing is believing – who knows it feel it. Please my brother and sisters of all nations we have lost an ICON. Sometimes in life things are taken for granted and the true message is often blinded. However, we often appreciate those cases when they come out into reality. Michael Jackson is one of those cases. Let’s look at a few more Martin Luther King, Elvis Presley and even the SWINE FLU. Today we have streets and cities named after Martin Luther King. Elvis Presley is now bigger than ever before kids 5 years old are singing and listening to his music all over the word. SARS and SWINE FLUE outbreak was not a major concerns until death occurred now people all over the world are wearing mask and are a far more cautious. Michael Jackson’s death made us realized what we have all taken for granted and opened our eyes to what he have done or was apart of. In reality, if he was still with us today a lot of us may very well classified him as a child molester but his death made us all aware of what we have taken for granted. Al Sharpton reminded us and in his own word he thanks him. For those who believed Al Sharpton is racist starting with you I’m asking you to change your ways if you wanna make the world a better Place and take a look at yourself, and then make that change. Michael did and Al Sharpton witnessed it.
