Lost Finale:Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje Mr. Eko Turned Down Finale Guest Spot – The actor who played Mr. Eko on the hit television series “Lost,” Adewale Akinnuoye Agbaje, once stated that he did not want to be a part of the show any longer, and was written off in the second season of the series much to the dismay of many of his fans. He was a beloved character, who many thought would have a long career on the show. Apparently, staying on the island for half of the year, was too much of a hassle for the fan favorite. Many fans were looking forward to seeing Mr. Eko in the finale last night, but to their dismay once again, he was not present.

According to several insiders, Adewale was asked if he would like to be part of the finale. According to sources, he was even offered a healthy lump sum to make the appearance, which may or may not have included his travel to Hawaii and back. Supposedly, he would be featured in the final scene of the show, where all of the characters are shown in the church. However, apparently the actor wanted at least five times what the studio was offering, and the producers opted out of allowing him to appear in the finale for a heightened price.

He was the fifth character to die on Lost. He was killed by the smoke monster, who would later be revealed as Jacob’s brother, who had been killed and thrown into ‘the light,’ which serves as the energy source for the island. The original plan was for Mr. Eko to stay on board four seasons, but they never made it to that point. Instead, when he asked to leave, they released him from his contract and let him go on his marry way. Most fans seem to think that the finale went over just fine without him.

  1. I stopped trying to keep up with lost a while ago but I thought he was a good actor / character for the show.

  2. I wish he’d accepted. The end would have made a bit more sense had he been there with everyone else.

  3. This is ridiculous! Did ABC really think that this was going to fly? This is just another ABC attempt to cover up what really happened. I’ve watched and carefully followed LOST news from the beginning to the end and it’s quite obvious from the cast interviews and the comments that were made that the reason Adewele was no longer on the show was not because it was “his choice to go” but because he rubbed someone the wrong way and they let him go calling it a personality conflict. This is why out of all of the cast members, Mr. Ecko’s (Adewale’s character’s) death was obviously the most violent and the most permanent. They let him go and didn’t want him to come back.
As for the finale, If you google this you’ll see several statements from Adewele saying that he would love to be a part of the finale and attempted to talk to the LOST people but they were slow to respond. So I find it appalling that they are now trying to cover it up by implying that he was just greedy!
If anything ABC probably put it out that he wanted 3 times to make it sound like he’s being greedy without mentioning that they probably offered everyone else 3 x’s more while offering him only a third of that amount (offering them 100 k while offering him 30K) knowing that he wouldn’t go for it! I’m not saying this is EXACTLY what happened but it seems highly unlikely that this dude would turn down being on the most watched and anticipated finale since The Sopranos for anything other than the money being insulting!
