Omar Thornton Beer-Distributor Shooter Connecticut : Victim of Racism? – Racism has been claimed by the man who shot up a beer distributor in a vicious and unrelenting rampage that was only ended when the man saw a S.W.A.T. Team coming for him and shot himself in the head.
A 911 operator received his rant, and his words were chilling and a reminder that the specter of racism still looms large in some areas.
The man, Omar Thornton, shot 10 co-workers in the rampage, of which 8 were fatally wounded. He spoke to a 911 operator, calling himself “the shooter over in Manchester”, calling his workplace a ‘racist place’, and saying he ‘handled the problem’, but wished he had shot more people.
“You probably want to know the reason why I shot this place up,” he said, his voice steady. “This place is a racist place. They’re treating me bad over here. And treat all other black employees bad over here, too. So I took it to my own hands and handled the problem. I wish I could have got more of the people.”
The 34 year old was forced to resign from his employment after he was shown with video evidence that he had been stealing and reselling beer.
The Hartford Distributors have denied claims of racism, claiming they hire minorities and are equal to all employees, regardless of race.

He didn’t steal for any noble reason like to feed his family. He stole beer so he could get drunk. First killing is wrong and unjustifide. Second racism is wrong and unjustified. I think black people and white people view this incident different, much like the O.J. Simpson incident… As a society we should come up with a job punishment option (compared with jail) as oppose to out right termination-which basicly end that person lively hood and put them in a desperate and potentially dangerous mode. Are you kidding me, Scott? Employers should excuse theft of their product by the very people they employ because termination might put that employee in a “desperate and potentially dangerous mode”? In this case there is NO evidence of racism at all, but even if there were, murder is not a black and white issue, it is an issue of evil, and Omar was, indeed, evil to the core. Where does it say that there was NO evidence of racism? The company gave a statement saying that there was no racism. Well I guess since the company said it was no racism it must be true Yeah right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… We all know they are not going to go public and say there’s racism going on at their company.
