Juan Williams Fired

Juan Williams Fired – Late Wednesday evening NPR/National Public Radio more or less announced via Twitter that they were firing Juan Williams for what the company believes are incendiary remarks he made about Muslims.

Williams who has been an NPR News Political Analyst for some decades now appeared on the “O’Reilly Factor,” earlier in the week where he told the conservative host that he felt a bit scared whenever he was on plane with people who appeared to be Muslims (he would deduct their religious faith by their traditional garments).

The two Fox News TV personalities were discussing Bill O’Reilly’s now infamous statement on The View when he said “Muslims killed us on 9/11,” on Monday when Williams shared his honest thoughts by saying:

“I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”

Withing several hours NPR’s media reporter David Folkenflik took to his Twitter account to reveal that Juan Williams had been fired for the remarks.
Since his job was terminated much like Rick Sanchez for making remarks about people of a specific faith – Williams has been making the media rounds to talk about his ill received sentence by his boss.
Appearing on Fox News’ “Happening Now” on Thursday morning Williams talked lengthy about NPR and the Muslim drama saying:

“which is that it is an honest experience that when I’m in an airport and I see people in Muslim garb who identify themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I do a double take. I have a moment of anxiety or fear given what happened on 9/11. That’s just a reality.”

Unlike Sanchez, Williams was able to bounce back on his feet very rapidly – he has signed a new $2 million contract with Fox News.

  1. Way to go Juan! Glad to see you bounced back so quickly. Sue the hell outta NPR. Congress defund NPR NOW!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I just came from a local underground railroad meeting where we discussed Juan Williams’ situation. The consensus was that he was honest about his feelings and suffered for his honesty. However not for long. I will still listen to him on Fox, but I guess not on NPR.
