There has been much speculation as to what, exactly, has caused Aretha Franklin to cancel all her tour dates and upcoming performances. Now, a new report has surfaced claiming that Franklin is suffering from pancreatic cancer.
She underwent surgery sometime last week, and has been in recovery since, but there has been no official word on what caused the sudden withdrawal of the singer from public life.
According to a source who claims to be familiar with the singer and her situation, Franklin is suffering from pancreatic cancer, as told to The Detroit News.
Fox 2, also in Detroit, reported the story as well, saying that the information about the diagnosis came from a relative of Franklin’s. Finally, the National Enquirer posted an article on Franklin’s illness as well.
It was only last month that Franklin made the announcement that she would be canceling all upcoming tour dates and appearances, due to instructions by her doctors to rest.
There have not been any official statements made by her or her publicist about what her ailment is. Rev Jesse Jackson said that he was able to visit her a few times, and he reported that she is recovering from surgery well.
