Recently Douglas Perlitz who founded a school in Haiti got serious jail time for molesting multiple boys on the island by judge Janet Bond Arterton.
Five of the boys which he sexually assaulted while attending the Project Pierre Toussaint School for homeless children in Cap-Haitien are now in their twenties testified as to what he did to them in trial in order to put him behind bars.
The Colorado man appeared in federal court recently as the result of victims who came forward as to the abuse that he inflicted on them at an early age.
Because of the fact that there are so many of his victims speaking out against him, he has been spent sent to prison for 20 years for child molestation, one of the crimes that courts view as especially heinous.
Around thirty Haitians watched the court proceedings, including a man by the name of Cyrus Sibert who is a radio reporter in the area who was the first one to report the stories of each of his victims back in 2007.
In September Perlitz, 40, pleaded guilty to the charges against him which fell under U.S law at the time, making sex tourism a federal offense.
Apparently Perlitz had sex with multiple underage juveniles when he went abroad, paying for sex with the young boys.
It is such a diabolical crime that I can’t even comprehend it. How could a man who founded a school for the homeless boys in Cap-Haitian could only think of taking advantage of them? The boys are the most vulnerable kids in society already. I hope that at least he had the decency to apologize to these children. That is the least he could do before being kept him away for his predatory behavior.
