Governor David A. Paterson Grants 24 Pardons To Immigrants

Governor David A. Paterson has granted a total of 24 pardons to immigrants who faced deportation because of the crimes they committed, but now they are free because of his decisions.

With only a week left in his office it seems as though Patterson has decided to pardon quite a few people.

Paterson claims that the laws regarding immigration are much harsher and is in desperate need of modernization, which is why he felt the need to pardon those who were charged with various crimes and faced having to go back to their home country.

The governor said that those who he pardoned have paid their debt to society and deserve to stay in the country.

He said he believes that the immigrants he pardoned are contributing to the nation in a very significant way and he sees no reason why they should be forced to leave the country. Governor Paterson called the immigration laws of the nation inflexible as well as misguided, stating that it was the reason he ultimately decided to grant the pardon. The Immigration Pardon Panel is due to the efforts of Governor Patterson who has started it up to make much-needed changes to the laws of the 1990s that are much too strict and make far too many people subject to deportation when it just isn’t necessary.

  1. Thanks, Patterson, for turning these criminals loose to continue preying on
American citizens and legal immigrants. You’re a real American hero!

  2. What a Piece of sh!t.

Worst governor in this country’s history and now this.

    At least he’s done.

  3. Wait a second… sure, he has the authority to pardon their prior criminal activities… but that does not make it ok for them to continue breaking the law. If you rob a bank, and get a pardon, it doesn’t make it ok to rob another bank, does it? Even with the pardon, they’re breaking the law AGAIN as long as they’re still here. Go get them, ICE! And then charge Patterson with treason, or just shoot him in his villainous, squinty, America-hating eye.

  4. The headline is grossly incorrect. No illegal immigrants received pardons.

The pardons were granted to LEGAL immigrants who were facing the possibility of deportation for minor crimes committed 10 or more years ago, for which they have already done the time or paid the fine.

  5. @gavin: not only are you a truly “remarkable PIECE of WORK”– It’s seems you’re quite ignorant on top of it! Sadly, this has become typical of the mass mentality, (or lack thereof–less than 3 decades ago, the USA was, was ranked among the top 5 countries in the world for math and science. These days, we’re bringing up the rear by having fallen to 26th or 27th. The copious supply of people with Gavin’s “mentality has MUCH to do with this “phenomenon”! Non-thinking entities such as this P O S*** make me ASHAMED to be an American!

Instead of taking a few minutes to gather a few facts, you just spews forth hyper- judgmental opinions which have no relationship to reality whatsoever.
Oh, I’m, sorry, you must be the all-knowing omniscient one . Your ‘special powers put you in touch witrh a “higher being” who relays information about these “illegal immigrants” and their covert activities of bank robberies, car jackings and such!

(Yep. Jed, that’s the way I heared’ it. I heared that they was from Mars, and at night they all ….bla bla bla bla),

  6. everyone deserves a second chance. i know people that spent time in ICE custody for simply stealing a DVD worth $10. Is it right to point fingers, at times we think so ,but at the same time . If it was your family , girlfriend , son or wife facing deportation you would want the world to hear your story. So at the end of the day like God said ” he who is without sin cast the first stone”. No you may not have went t the extent of robbing a bank , blowing an airplane up or even stealing a car, but everyone steals even if its to the smallest extent . For example stealng your friends boyfriend and you get into a fight, someone calls the cops they book you or even ask for i.d and you have none to show , then they believe either you entered this country illegally or you may a criminal trying to hide your true identity…LAWS ARE BECOMING HARSH AND IMMORAL. Everyone wants the American dream and they deserve for there voices t be heard
