Barack Obama Praises Philadelphia Eagles For Michael Vick 2nd Chance

President Obama recently praised Philadelphia Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie for giving quarterback Michael Vick a second chance.

Many teams had been resistant to signing Vick at the beginning of last season, as he had just served 18 months in federal prison.

Vick was charged for his involvement in a dog fighting ring. There has, however, been some debate regarding the degree of which Vick was actually involved.

Vick sparked even more controversy as he recently stated that he would like to own a dog again. He went on to declare that his past and the culture in which he grew up did not affect who he was now.

Obama told Lurie that there are so many people that have served time, who never get a fair second chance. Obama stated that it is never a level playing field for players who come out of jail.

The President’s stance holds that those who have paid for their crimes should have a chance to contribute to society again.

And Vick is contributing for the Eagles, coming back hotter than ever.

Obama and Lurie also discussed plans to install solar panels and wind turbines at Lincoln Financial Field, where the Eagles play.

This would make it the first self-sufficient alternative-energy sports stadium.
