Chicago Blizzard 2011 Is Called Snowmaggedon

The city of Chicago is bracing for what the experts are calling the 3rd biggest storm in history.

According to meteorologists in the next 24 to 48 hours another storm is predicted to hit the Windy City and drop between 12 to 20 inches of snow.

The natural disaster which is being dubbed “Snowmaggedon” is expected to force offices, schools/universities and roads to close down in the upcoming days.

The National Weather Service is warning Chicagoans on its website calling the blizzard the most “dangerous, multifaceted and potentially life threatening” and therefore asking residents to take the necessary measures to remain safe.

Just like the terrible 1999 and 1967 storms that seriously froze Illinois with over 20 inches of snow, the Chicago Blizzard of 2011 is set to bring white-out conditions and extremely hazardous roads according to WGN meteorologist Tom Skilling.

  1. My friends and I just returned from a mile and a half trip to the lake. We thought 18-20 foot waves would be crashing in during the blizzard per our weatherman. No waves… but our entire trek took us 3 hours and we never saw anything beyond 50 yards, let alone 10 yards in front of us.
