Rapper T.I. was arrested in his Atlanta home this afternoon.
A federal search warrant was executed and special agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms and Explosives spent most of the afternoon at the rapper’s residence.
T.I. whose real name is Clifford Harris was taken into custody, while agents searched his Atlanta home.
Investigators did not release the charges, but did say the investigation unfolded quickly.
Clifford arrest comes as the BET Hip-Hop Awards were taped on Saturday at the Boisfeuillet Jones Civic Center in Atlanta. The artist led the pack with nine nominations, including CD of the Year, Lyricist of the Year and MVP of the Year.
Harris was scheduled to perform at the awards and host an after-party at an Atlanta nightclub Saturday night.
He has a role opposite Academy Award-winners Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe in “American Gangster,” set to be released Nov. 2.
